Last night I went to the smoke club instead of going to bikram yoga. For some reason, the place seemed even more gloomy than it actually appears to me. Dark, seedy, spaced out patrons and staff. Nobody ever greets, or even answer to greetings. When I left and said "thanks, goodbye" to the two people in the reception area they just stared back, as if being polite was unpolite. I've decided not to come back to this place. It's depressive and expensive. I'll sign up to a different club but I'll try to make space in-between.

Today our three remote teammates came to Madrid. We are celebrating the new office with guests and beers after work. We have a new sales hire, Aaron, who is American born but grown in Sevilla. It's so strange seeing a gringo speak andaluz and this ameliorates my irritation at being questioned if I'm really Mexican when I say I'm Mexican.

I'm standing yet I'm half-asleep. I'm like horses that can sleep standing up. I'm probably at 40% work capacity. I've always thought napping should be normalized at the workplace. Imagine you weren't allowed to recharge your laptop at work. You'd have to come from home fully charged. One day you forget, or one day you do computing intensive tasks and your battery drains before the end of the work day. You reduce brightness to the minimum, turn off bluetooth and perhaps wifi to make it till the end of the day. Now imagine that you are allowed to recharge, but only if you close your laptop and don't work at the same time. Would your boss approve of it? Of course! As to why we are not allowed to recharge ourselves at work, this will remain a mystery.

I'm more and more impressed by AI, as well as my co-workers. We are most definitely at a watershed moment of humanity. I wonder how long it will take us to let go of our almost fanatical desire for control, but I see myself taking decisions further and further away from the nitty gritty details. This feels like the late 90s for me again, when I saw a live webcam of a Coffee pot in a random office and it blew my mind: "wow anybody can broadcast, and I can watch anybody's broadcast". It took about 20 years to really materialize into normality, anybody can be a youtuber or social media influencer now. This time around it will be quicker and more significant, it will imbue the human constructed material world with life-like qualities, cities will become autonomous self-repairing living beings and us... What are we in this arrangement?
