Last night I went to bed at 10pm. I woke up at 2am and then had trouble getting back to sleep, laying awake about three hours. The thing about waking up in the middle of the night is that you never now how long it will take you to get back to sleep, so you can't make anything out of the time you're awake.
Yesterday, as I was idling on the bike on a red stop on my way to yoga, I saw two young women wanting to cross the street on a red light, without apparent incoming traffic. However, beyond their field of view a car was approaching, and when they saw it they switched to a jog. One of the ladies, slim but well endowed, had her tits bouncing all over the place. She looked down towards her cleavage and synchronized the trot to the bouncing of her tits. She grinned at her cleverness but then had a moment of self-awareness and looked around to see if she was being watched. She met my face, which was also grinning. We both looked away laughing, both embarrassed. I thought it was a beautiful sexy amusing moment and I hope she feels the same way.
At yoga the teacher made emphasis that we should adapt our practice to however we were feeling at the moment, and to our level of practice. "Nobody knows your body like you do", she said. Then she said she was always surprised when somebody had an injury at yoga. If you're pushing your body to the point of injury, you're doing it wrong. "I've never had an injury doing yoga" she said.
Something within me was protesting these assertions. Self-knowledge eludes us all, in the mind as in the body. Injuries can happen in any context, even by just walking. Then, as the teacher was demonstrating a sideways bend, she let out an exclamation of pain as she pinched a nerve on her back. I was reminded about how skeptical I'm at stating "I never" or "I always", life always has a way of showing this is not true (and by stating life always I will surely prove that life not always).
After my yoga practice I passed a Camper store and remembered I ate through the soles of my shoes on this walk. They have a three year warranty on shoes, so I entered the store to inquire about it. They offered a new pair on the spot, no questions asked. They've gained a life-long customer.
Co-workers have started trickling in. Time to get to work.
