I came to Montserrat to begin a long walk again. There are many things I need to think about. I don't want to set up expectations for myself, or mislead the reader into thinking this will be an inspired walk as it was a couple of years ago.

In truth, I will start this walk like Fernando Ossorio in Pío Baroja's Camino de perfección. I have exhausted pleasure as a means of distraction, and my creative projects are stalled.

But, as always, I will write in earnest, hoping that inspiration finds me, without too much attachment on form, simply as a means of self-therapy, which I need at this time.

Tomorrow the walk begins.
