Today was my first day at work. Half of the day was used for workplace and legal set-up. The other half for actual work. I like the size and the vibe of our team. I couldn't ask for better conditions. I have a good feeling about this.
I expected something to go wrong with my residence status (I was told I had three months to find a new employer, which has already elapsed). However, after sending the required documentation I received an SMS from social security with my SSN number. I'm now officially an employee of a Spanish company. I won't link or name the company because I don't want to be backlinked by my co-workers. It's not important to hide my tracks, I just don't want to broadcast my personal writing venue.
I've stayed almost two weeks with my friend Vicky. Yesterday I told her in no uncertain terms how grateful I was to her, this wouldn't have materialized without her help. But I am also very aware I'm overstaying, and another great friend offered to host me the next leg of my stay while I get a place for myself in Madrid. I'll move with her on Monday.
It's remarkable how well things tend to fall into place for me. I can only be grateful to my friends and to God for this very soft landing. I hope to one day become an instrument of His will in helping other people, especially my friends.
