I stayed in Cervera for the day. Mainly because I wanted to find the Mexican friends I made when I was here five years ago. I thought we had exchanged emails but it seems all our communication went through WhatsApp, and my chat history vanished when I changed my phone. I scourged the internet for hints, through LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter, etc, but I came out empty handed. I even saw a guy sitting at a café that looked like him, I was about to approach him but the guy was smoking and my friend didn't smoke. And he had a wife and a daughter, it didn't make sense that he would be alone on a holiday, as today is the Assumption of Mary.

Wait! I just realized I have the number of the girl I encountered at the library. I just sent her a WA message. That was quick! Marta (the girl from the library) just responded to my proposal to get a drink with a picture of her two kids. It was cute, not disappointed. Her friends (the ones I'm looking for) are vacationing in Paris. Well, at least they know I came to Cervera and looked for them.

Even without meeting anybody it was a good idea to stay. Today I had to modify an invoice to get my payment, again. Good thing I brought my laptop. I also feel the initial stages of shin splints, for this I've been sliding my fingers forcefully into my shins in a sort of deep tissue massage. I shouldn't walk too far tomorrow.

Today I went to the supermarket. I bought everything for lunch, dinner and breakfast tomorrow. This is what I got:

  • 1 pre-cooked entire chicken
  • 650g of cured ham
  • 120g of goat cheese
  • 300g of carbonara pasta
  • 1 ready made cesar salad
  • 1 bag of lamb's lettuce (? canónigos in Spanish)
  • 1 large avocado
  • 1 tomato
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 peach

Since the kitchen in this albergue only has a microwave, I had to buy things that didn't require cooking. This made it easy to calculate the caloric intake: almost 6,000 calories. My body is not efficient, and I'm glad because I have a big appetite.
